Prayer Shawl Ministry
If you know someone who is seriously ill, or is in hospice care; please contact Charlotte Swoyer. As long as there are shawls available, you may have a prayer shawl to deliver to that ill person.

Operation Book Bag - 2010

It's time to to begin collecting school supplies for children whose families cannot afford to buy them. Many churches collect supplies during their Bible School or other summer events. Last year, 526 filled book bags were delivered to Reading schools ! This ministry is a blessing to both the students and and the school staffs. Your generosity and continued support of this vital program would be greatly appreciated. These are the items requested:

Elementary - Crayons, erasers, primer tablets, rulers, pencils, glue sticks, construction paper, safety scissors, pencil box or bag, small packs of tissues, back pack / book bag
Middle School - 3 or 5 subject notebooks, notebook paper, assignment books, colored pencils, highlighters, tissues, calculators, erasers, pencils, pens (blue or black ink), back pack/ book bag.

Monetary donations are also appreciated. Checks can be made payable to "St. Mark's Lutheran Church".
Please note Operation Bookbag in the memo section of the check

All items should be brought to the church by August 8.

Thanks you for your support of this outreach effort.

An Opportunity to Help Others
Enjoy Food and Friendship

We will be serving our last Community Table meal for 2010 on Tuesday, September 7. The Community Table in Birdsboro is hosted by Hopewell Love, INc, and is a  free meal offered on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. These meals are enjoyed by about 75 of our neighbors.
Meals are served at the Birdsboro Community Library on Mill Street. We are looking for for members of
St. Mark's who are willing to put the words of our mission statement, " to reach out to all with his love." into action.
Volunteers are needed who may willing to cook, serve, donate an assigned food item, and/or donate money to help us purchase needed items. Please consider volunteering to do one or more of the above.
If you are able to help or donate, please contact Mary Kilareski at 610-582-4377.

"When Jesus visited a town, He shared His meals with everybody who wanted to be with Him. Everyone was welcome at the table - to share food and friendship"
Community Hymn Sing

We will be having a Community Hymn Sing in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday, September 12 at 6 PM.
Snacks will be served.

We hope you can attend. Please bring a friend or neighbor.
