Volunteer Recognition Sunday
May 16 was designated as Volunteer Recognition Sunday at St. Mark's. This Sunday is the Evangelism and Stewardship Committee's way of acknowledging and honoring the work done by countless volunteers throughout the year. Collectively, they are all making a difference in the life of the church that we call St. Mark's.

This year, Charlotte Swoyer was named as the volunteer of the year and worthy of special recognition. The picture to the left shows Mark Painter and Pastor Gould congratulating Charlotte and thanking her for her dedication and service. Charlotte was presented with a framed lithograph of the church at the 8 AM service.

Baobob Blast
A Big
Success
Between July 19 and 23, parts of St. Mark's were transformed into the African plains and 36 children from the area gathered under the Baobob tree to hear stories, makes, crafts, play games, have snacks and in the process learn about Jesus.

An offering was held each evening and some of the proceeds used to purchase supplies for Operation Bookbag. Needed school basics like crayons, glue sticks, and erasers were purchased for about 30 elementary aged children, and writing notebooks were purchased for older children.

Denise Gebhard led the effort for this year's vacation bible school. Helping her were Kathleen Reiger (Madagascar Music), Lori Rothharpt (Kalahari Crafts), Kristina Flanagan (Savannah Storytelling), Kim Arantowicz (Serengheti snacks), Lisa Johnson (Serengheti snacks), and Chris Rothharpt (Grassland games).

Classroom teachers were Carol Seidel (Preschool), Eileen Mounce (K/1), Roseann James (2/3), and Rachel Bolonski (4/6)

Jodi Key was the resident photographer and Pastor Gould attended as well.

Teen helpers this year included Heather Key, Ian Flanagan, Elisha Arantowicz, Courtney Rothharpt, Leigh Rothharpt, Cayla Rothharpt, and Hope Seidel.

A very big thanks to all who helped to make this a success.
