COVID-19 Response

Return of COVID Food Ministry

We were contacted this week by the Birdsboro Emergency Management Coordinator regarding the increase in COVID cases in our area and discussing the eventual tightening of restrictions. The coordinator asked if we would be starting our COVID-19 Food Ministry again for the senior citizens of Birdsboro. We told him that we just started making plans for the ministry to start up again and that we just purchased a commercial freezer to handle the food we will be using in the ministry and for our meals. We are also working with ELCA World Hunger to purchase a large hot box to keep meals hot until they are served or delivered.

We anticipate we will begin the ministry again in Mid-December but do not have a specific start date at this time. How can you help? We will be again asking people to volunteer as cooks, meal organizers and delivery teams. We will ask people to support the food ministry through financial contributions and Thrivent Action Teams. We will also be asking folks to give us cards, prayers, notes of encouragement and other small items to include in the boxes.

We are planning on preparing and delivering the meals on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you would like to be involved in any way, please call the office at 610-582-8167 and talk to Marsha who will be coordinating volunteers. If you would like to get on the list to receive the meals, again please call Marsha. She will need your name, address and phone number to place you on the delivery list.

Drive Thru Food Pantry

For the time being we are going to continue hosting the drive thru food bank on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of each month from 4 to 5 PM (new time).
